So, it was Wednesday, which makes it day four or five depending on how I count. Well whichever it is, it was Wednesday.

We decided to take an easy day and just stay local. After the long drives (there and back) on Tuesday, it made sense to me.

Tuesday night at the hot tub, Phil was talking to some people that we met the first day we arrived. He mentioned that we were thinking of renting bikes and a kid trailer for the bikes too. They told him that they had rented one that day and would not be able to return it the next day as they were going to the Columbia Ice Fields. They offered it to us and we figured we'd return it for them and then rent it ourselves.

So Wed. morning we got ready and drove into town to the bike shop. We returned the trailer and then rented it and a couple of mountain bikes. Sadly they didn't have one quite as small as is best for me, but certainly had one that I could ride. So we headed off. Phil started out with the trailer bike.

We rode to the Bow river and then along the river until the trail ended. We took a break at the end of the path and let LB play for a while. He was very excited to ride in the trailer and seemed to enjoy it pretty well. It was a bit ackward with the helmet, as it stuck out behind him a bit and made it hard to put his head back completely in the trailer.

When we were ready to head back, we let him keep the helmet off while we were on the trail, but once we hit actual road, he had to wear it. The bikes were rented for the day, so we headed back to the condo. Getting two bikes and the trailer upstairs was a bit challenging, but we made it. We had lunch and then LB took his nap. After nap, we headed out for another little ride. We went back down to the bow river, crossed it, and rode back on the far side. For this leg of the ride, I took the trailer and it was definitely more work!! LB was getting pretty tired of the trailer at this point too. I think he wanted to be up and active instead of just sitting there.

We got the bikes and trailer back to the bike shop and then walked into town for dinner. We asked a few people, the guy at the bike shop, the guy at the Canmore info stand, for dinner recommendations. They were mostly useless, so we had dinner at a Japanese restaurant. Even though they didn't have Gyoza, LB survived. He had the kids bento box which came with teriyaki chicken, miso soup, rice, "kids sushi" (tamago, & california roll?), and salad (with corn on it). We had mixed tempura which included many of the usual tempura veggies, plus green onion (made Phil happy) and cheese-interesting. They also had termpura potato, which was pretty tasty, but a bit odd. I also had some teriyaki salmon which was really really tasty. They put teriyaki sauce on the dish, but also some other sauce-and I've no idea what it was. The dinner was good, but if we'd had one of our guide books we might have gone somewhere else.

There are two distinct areas of town and I can't figure out which restaurants are more for the tourists. There's the main downtown area-where we ate, and then there's the area up where all the hotels are.

After dinner we went for a drive. I'd seen a road and I wondered how to get to it, so we headed that direction. We drove through residential neighborhoods with AMAZING views, and up towards the Nordic Center. It was a nice drive and it's always fun to see how the natives live (or where they live, at least).

Then back to the condo and Phil and LB went up to the hot tub, I think-I can't remember when they go and when they don't (LB wants to go constantly). Then down and to bed for LB, we had another busy day ahead of us on Thursday.
