Obviously, *I* did not end up doing the holidailies. It's been almost a month since I've said anything.

But here's a Friday Five that I'm actually doing on Friday.

1. Favorite cookie/candy/baked good without which, it's just not Christmas.

Spritz (your basic butter cookie). And I haven't baked any this year, but I have gotten some in a cookie exchange.
But really, cookies in general.

2. Do you do a fancy dinner on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, both, or neither? (Optional: with whom will you gather around the table this year?)

We do dinner at my in-laws' house on Christmas, my parents come and any of our friends who want to join us are also welcome.

This year it'll be MIL, FIL, mom, dad, Uncle Matt, Lee (a very good friend of ours), whomever Uncle Matt invites, and others I'm sure, but I don't know who.

Our traditional Christmas meal? Briscut (sp?)

3. Evaluate one or more of the holiday beverage trifecta: hot chocolate, wassail, egg nog.

Hot chocolate-love it, but not just for the holidays
Egg nog-love it-but only certain brands, and haven't found the perfect one yet (that tastes like my childhood) and fortunately/unfortunately, it's only around during the holidays.
Wassail-what the hell is wassail?

4. Candy canes: do you like all the new-fangled flavors or are you a peppermint purist?

PURE!! And I get them every year for my students, the small peppermint ones are getting harder and harder and harder to find.

5. Have you ever actually had figgy pudding? And is it really so good that people will refuse to leave until they are served it?

Nope and probably nope, unless it involves chocolate.

Edited to add: Well, I am APPALLED with myself that I forgot to include a question about the crown prince of holiday foods--the fruitcake.

One word only: ICK!!
