LB just completed his first week (3 days really) of Kindergarten.

So far he seems to love it. When I ask him what they did, he says they played. When I ask him if he learned anything he says no. And I think that's just about what Kindergarten should be. I know he'll learn stuff, LOTS of stuff but it won't feel like learning as much as playing and having fun.

His week looked like this:
Tuesday - Opening Ceremony - he marched in with a senior (one of my former AP Physics students and a football player), and that was all he was there for.
Wednesday - take bus to school from the campus where I teach, take bus back from school to my site, teacher read Mrs. Bindergarten Goes to Kindergarten to them. He drew us matching pictures.
Thursday - bus to and from, they did PE at school today and he got to participate in the school's flag ceremony that they do at the start of each day.
Friday - drop off at school (a better solution for all involved), hang out in library with other kids for a bit, then head outside to play. They had an ice cream sundae party put on by the parent's association after lunch. Take bus back to meet me, and walk up with colleague, since I was in class.

Friday was a free dress day, kids can wear whatever they want on the bottom, but have to wear a red white or blue shirt. We were sure he'd want to wear his Thomas shirt, but NOPE, he wanted to wear a blue uniform shirt. That seemed to me to be the epitome of Kindergartener behavior, at least for one who seems to love school as much as he does.

So far so good.
