Things not to do after getting LASIK

For example, don't smack yourself in the eyeball with your jacket collar when you're putting it on.

I did this the other night right as I was getting out of the car to go salsa dancing. It wasn't really bad, but the corner of the collar kind of slid across the inside of my lower eyelid. I immediately flushed my eye with lots and lots of artificial tears, and my vision didn't change at all, so I pretty much figured I was fine (and my phone call to Dr. Cress today confirmed that). But for the last two days that eye has felt extra scratchy. So I'm going in tomorrow to see Dr. Cress and have him look at it and reassure me that everything is fine. He's so not worried about it, and I suppose I'm not terribly worried either (or I'd have called his cell right away), but I would just feel better if he looked at it. He thinks I probably just scratched the surface a little, and he recommended I put in lots more artifical tears and then close my eyes for a while. So that's my plan for tonight. I've been regularly dousing with the faux tears, but I'm going to get in bed and close my eyes for a nice long while.

Oooh, the other funny thing that happened with my right eye was last night (I think), I had a dream in which a cat (not Harry, Sean's hairless cat, but some other cat I've never met) pushed his paw up against my closed right eye. I don't know if I pushed my own eye and then made up the cat to go with the sensation, or if it was complete fantasy, but I really felt like a cat's paw (no claws) had pushed up against my closed eyelid. Weird.
