July 25, 2005 I'm a list maker. I can't help it. I didn't use to do this, but for the last several years I relied less on my memory and more on a To-Do List that I create every morning. Now, as a fulltime freelancer, it's either the first thing I do in my writing day or the last, prepping for the next day. Here's today's list (with apologies for the abbreviations, but that's what I do): 1. Intv DG--1:00 2. track 3. write 2 bckg check arts 4. JAGT #3 5. JAGT #2 TOC etc 6. Serpent 7. Angels 8. schedule asthma intv 9. Vet Econ intvs 10. change/edit G&P art 11. Start Pod Mgt art 12. laser art for OP 13. Query --bankrate 14. Saturn appt 15. chk hotels @ Magna I crossed out track because the day started out in the mid-80s and is supposed to go to 95 degrees with high humidity. I gave my kids the option of skipping track today and they took it. I've worked on my Serpent rewrite, so that's currently crossed out. I queried my editor already, so bankrate is crossed out. What's sort of interesting and disturbing is that I rarely complete everything on my To-Do List, and that's okay. These are things that in an ideal world I would get to. The top of the list tends to be a bit more important than the ones on the bottom, but not necessarily. I do need to get the materials finished by the end of the week on JAGT #3, which is The Journal of the Association of Genetic Technologists, Issue #3, 2005, that are due to my layout folks soon. And I need to make an appointment to get the oil changed on my Saturn, which is #14, but checking hotels at Magna isn't a big deal because Magna cum Murder isn't until October, but the place I stayed last year isn't making the same offer, but I'm going to call them anyway and see what their rates are. Now, time to get to #3. Best, Mark Terry
