I walk Frodo regularly and one of my semi-regular routes goes around the back of my subdivision. There's a stretch of about fifty yards where there are abou 13 or 14 squashed frogs on the road. My original degree was in microbiology so I'm just short of saying, "Eeewww, gross." I'm more puzzled. There appear to be small wooded areas on either side of the road there, along with houses, and those wooded areas--there are several such areas throughout this subdivision--typically have low, marshy areas. It's not inconceivable that the frogs are from those areas and were going back and forth between the marshy areas.

Why so many would get run over in such a short time I can't figure. I have this vision of a migration of a dozen frogs crossing the road and getting run down.

Or ... a rain of frogs!

Supposedly there are actual documented cases of raining frogs, but I'm skeptical. I do think, however, that it's a good enough description of a pretty shitty day. You know--

"How's your day going, Mark?"

"It's raining frogs."

"One of those days, ey?"

"At least there's no locusts."

"I hear you."

Of course, it's probably a lot worse for the frogs.

Best,
Mark Terry
