Cheer up, goddammit!

Make you feel better? I noticed on Good Morning, America today that today is being touted as being statistically the most depressing day of the year. Gee, and I would have guessed April 15th.

I really don't have much to say about this. I have a cold. I'm not particularly depressed and, surprise, surprise, at the moment the sun is sort of shining, so I can put my seasonal affective disorder on hold until the gloom moves back in.

But as long as we're on the subject of depression, I just want to suggest that people in the arts are a little too prone to these things. And an aspiring writer has plenty of reason to be depressed. But it's a tough business to be in if you're depressed or even pessimistic. If you are depressed, or think you're depressed, or think maybe your blue periods have been going on too long, please talk to your doctor about this. They might suggest counseling or these days there's some very effective little pills they can give you to help with these problems.

This Public Service Announcement was brought to you by Mark Terry. Have a nice day.
