My writing career is in a constant state of evolution. I'm quite pleased with my current publisher, Midnight Ink/Llewellyn Worldwide. I was quite pleased with my previous book publisher, High Country, but my status with MI is light years from what it was with High Country. My career, for that matter, in nonfiction and fiction, is light years from where it was a couple years ago, let alone a dozen years from now.

The truth of the matter is, if you plug on, try to do your best work, plug on, persist, continue, continue, continue... you will improve as a writer and your writing career will improve right along with it.

There may be issues of expectations. There always are in most endeavors, and writing and publishing is no different. Still, I can say as of June 13, 2006, I'm delighted with my writing career in both fiction and nonfiction, terribly pleased with my relationship with my agent, thrilled with the relationships with my various editors, both fiction and nonfiction.

Could it be better?

Of course, in my eyes and no doubt in theirs. That's life. A certain degree of discontent all the way around. But stay positive.

Best,
Mark Terry
