Well everything in our society is driven by how much money there is to be made. Too bad human beings are more than money making machines.

It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. They "perceive" that book reviews are taking up too much precious space, and so delete them, which in turn leads people to erroneously perceive that the general population isn't reading so much anymore, but rather watch movies and buy cars. That faulty perception by the general public bleeds back to the newspapers and justifies their decision to cut the section. And so on, and so on...
