Mood:
Limbo

Well, I've got my work cut out for me on Monday. My conversation with Fred didn't shed much more light on my pilot other than I need to talk directly with the gal at Trilogy. The notes I got from Fred:
-- Some characters weren't "driven" enough
-- the protagonist ("he") dropped into the background halfway through the script
-- she thought she might pass on it because of those issues
-- she didn't ask for the bible.

Now, Fred hasn't actually read my script so couldn't have an intelligent conversation about the work. He did tell me to call her on Monday, which I most certainly will. With the following in mind:
-- which characters weren't "driven" and what does that mean for her?
-- the protagonist I have in mind was not a "he" but a "she"
-- find some wiggle room to get the bible to her.

Now, I have to be very careful. Execs are notoriously defensive and rightfully cautious about speaking directly to the writer about something they consider problematic. So, I'll have to mull over my approach, and make sure I'm in exactly the right frame of mind when I talk with her. Not too aggressive, but not dismissive of my project. Open to ideas, but not completely capitulating. Grateful that she read it, but not fawing and most of all confident that this series is going to get made.

Most of all, remember my goal. Get her to read the bible.
