Bad for the waist, good for the ego

Mood:

Just got out of my lunch with Tom, the author and (didn't I tell you?) another person we'll call Dick.

To be scrupulously fair, Dick and Tom were the first two of this pair to actually start to dream about this novel coming to the silver screen. I know Dick, and he's probably a good addition -- he'll keep Tom working towards the final goal.

We had lunch over at Dalt's a nice restaurant with a wonderful macaroni & cheese dish. I really like eating out, but boy does it wreak havoc with the calorie intake!!

I like the novel's author, and after the meeting I'm hopeful about the future of this project. All four of us want the movie to happen. The author is reasonable and laid back, and Tom very enthusiastic. We talked about star options, and I threw out one that noone had thought of, but everyone likes -- Kent McCord. For those not-so-young'uns out there, Kent McCord played Jim Reed in Adam-12 (http://www.kentmccord.com/).

I also got permission to send the treatment to John, and promptly did so. I managed to convince Tom (with Dick's help) that he should approach the big boys like Village Roadshow and Castle Rock.

As always, it turns into a waiting game for me. That's OK. I'm used to waiting. Besides, good things come to those who wait, right?
