The thing I hate the most...
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

...is waiting. I make calls and leave messages and send out scripts, but there's that inevitable period of waiting to hear back. I've got a call in to my agent to see if she's heard back from Trilogy and Castle Rock, and I've been researching more places to put Fork-Tailed Devil. Someone suggested Richard Dreyfus, but I'm not convinced if that's going to fit or not.

Procrasting is not my friend, nor is the burst of "gotta make calls this week" and then sitting around for a while.

So, the public action plan for next week is as follows:

-- Sunday: research more companies to send the script to;
-- Sunday: make a list of actors who might be accessible to reading;
-- Monday - Friday: call just one company a day to get script read;
-- Monday - Friday: figure out how to get in touch with said actors and do so if possible (may be through friends, agents or production companies).

Also:
-- Call someone I met on Thursday regarding American Pilot;
-- Call an individual I've met at a Thursday night event to see if she'll read Mind Games with an eye for recommending the script to actors with whom she works;
-- Make a lunch date with a writer I met last night;
-- Send a script to the Disney Fellowship program;
-- Send Fork-Tailed Devil to Slamdance.

Next weekend I'm attending the WGA Foundation's Writers on Genre and hope to meet people there. One of them I've met through my Zicree class, and I hope he'll be kind enough to chat with me for a while.

My goal is to have a constant flow of things happening, instead of the flurry-wait. Keep the momentum going so that I'm not into the funk of waiting to hear back.
