This and That

Various bits and pieces have progressed over the past few weeks, which seem to me fairly dull, but I'll note them anyway.

Demo Reel Scenes
Demo Reel Scenes continues to show a steady, even slightly growing, number of hits every day. My Google Adwords investment is generating a ton of interest. I've been contacting various places by e-mail to introduce them to DRS, and have leads for additional places to contact directly by phone. No sales yet, but I expected that.

I've now got an exclusive partnership with Perfect Reel Productions, a demo reel company here in LA run by Ken Mader (who you'll hear more about in other projects). I'm hoping to establish similar partnerships in other geographical areas, and am researching opportunities toward that goal.

Mind Games
My one important goal this weekend is to compile a list of production companies to read Mind Games. I received a thoroughly delightful letter of intent from Anita La Selva today, voicing her wholehearted support for the project. This, too, should help me get read in places as well -- we'll see how this goes.

Fork-Tailed Devil
Still shopping this around. A producer I met through a networking organization loves the story (and said that she's a military person herself so she's even more impressed by the story), she has the synopsis and she has indicated that she'll pass it to interested parties. She just sold a film, and has a development deal in place, so perhaps something will happen through that unexpected avenue. I have a list of companies to call for FTD, and will start that up again on Monday.

Huh. Just noticed that this producer I'm talking about was also a producer on Blade, and is with the William Morris Agency. That's definitely cool.

Networking
In the plans for December are two networking opportunities. One is a signing party, to which I've been invited, to which are coming both friends that I know, and friends that I hope to know.

The other is (I hope) GenCon SoCal. One of the events there is the Biggs & Carter experience, a workshop on acting. I hope to learn more about approaching drama from an actor's viewpoint, and I hope to chat with Jason Carter and Richard Biggs (of Babylon 5 fame).

Zali's Crush
Ken Mader, who directed Carnivore (currently distributed by Fox), is putting together another project called Zali's Crush. Armin Shimmerman is starring in it, and we're going to be assembling a trailer for Ken to take around and try to drum up financing for the feature. I'm volunteering on the project by doing research, making calls, getting info, all that sort of stuff. We hope to shoot the trailer in January, once all the right pieces come together. The shoot itself should last only a weekend. I'll at least get to be on another set, which should be much fun!

That's all for now.
