Songbird's family is dealing with braces this week. She asks for our thoughts on the following:

1) The Tooth Fairy
Never bought this one, but played along for the cash. We got a quarter. Not having kids, I have no idea what the going rate is.

2) Flossing
I wish I did it more. Because my teeth have too large of spaces between them, I don't think it's quite as essential for me--the brush gets more here. Don't do as I do, do as dentists say.

3) Toothpaste Brands
I'm a fan of Crest gel (the kind that controls tartar) in the bottle/tube that stands up. Rembrandt is also good. I used to use the brand that foams up with peroxide, but my gums were receding using it.

4) Orthodontia for Adults
I had braces as a kid, but didn't wear my retainer like I should have. My teeth were profoundly screwed up, now they are just all spread out. If I could afford the invisible ones or that overnight plastic appliance and they wouldn't impact my speaking/singing voice, I'd seriously consider it.

5) Whitening products
My teeth are yellow because my mother took a particular medicine when she was pregnant with me. I can't bleach my teeth. I used to think I would get veneers, but since they would cost 3 months salary, I think I'll pass. Love me, love my yellow teeth.
