Here are some selected photos from our drive around the island:

  1. Thuvirs, grassy humps created by ice under the turf, play havoc with our soil strata sometimes, and are hard to walk over.

  2. One of the many valley vistas in the northern peninsulas.

  3. Shelley overlooks the Godafoss waterfalls.

  4. Myvatn, from the east.

  5. Natural arch on one of the trails to the Hverfjall crater rim.

  6. It was a hard climb!

  7. Enjoying the sulphur fumes near Myvatn.

  8. Red road. Red road! (This is the main road around the island, clearly distinct from the black sandy wasteland through which it runs.)
