I'm not a fan of fad diets. One of my pet peeves is how the word "diet" has been distorted to mean primarily a restricted diet (usually to lose weight), as opposed to just a description of what you eat.

The latest craze seems to be the Atkins diet, where you count "net carbs" by subtracting the amount of fiber from total carbohydrates in whatever you're eating. I like that this has become popular, because it's finally getting easier to find things like whole wheat pasta and other healthful foods of that nature.

I tried the Atkins "Morning Start" Blueberry Bounty with Almonds cereal this morning. I really like blueberries. I really like almonds. I really like cereal with crunchy, interesting textures. But this was, well, truly terrible. I don't think I've ever eaten a cereal that not only felt like dampened cardboard but left such a nasty aftertaste.

Blecch.

And to think that I haven't been blogging the past few weeks. I'm sure y'all have missed my biting, insightful commentary. Because, y'know, breakfast cereal is important.
