We live in Big Bear, a rural, mountain community at roughly 7000 feet. Athletes from all over come to train here (Oscar de la Hoya had his main training camp up here for quite some time) in order to buff up in the high altitude conditions.

A local boy, Ryan Hall, has qualified for the Olympic team going to Beijing later this year. I think he should go down the mountain to train in San Bernardino -- it would get him accustomed to the smog.
