Okay, it sounds more impressive than it really is.

Our local weekly paper, the Big Bear Grizzly, had as their primary, above the fold story a recap on the most-discussed stories in 2008. As you might imagine, Prop 8 topped the list.

The second example given -- and the only one using an actual name -- was mine:

Regarding teaching about the 'gay lifestyle' in schools:

There is a big difference between preaching morality and teaching tolerance. Regardless of how you, personally, feel about how others live, I see no problem in schools teaching that other people are different.

Personally, my marriage does not need protecting. My husband and I are teaching our son that God loves ALL of His children, regardless of how individual human beings may or may not live up to that ideal.



Shawn was a little concerned about my using my real name in case of some nutjob wacko taking offense while Shawn was down the hill, but I'm not worried. After all, if real, identifiable members of the community don't stand up for what's right, then what will be left?
