To play - but with the old gang

After a few phone calls and emails, I was able to determine that the guys I was playing with before our drummer got sick (and since passed away) still are interested in jamming. Mike was our bass player, not a natural bassist, but a solid player, and Steve was our rhythm guitarist and vocalist, splitting the vocals with me. Mike can switch over to drums if need be, and Steve can move to bass guitar. He currently plays bass in a Christian Rock outfit called Joshua's Choice, so he's no stranger to the instrument. Or they can stay where they were, and we can try to locate a new drummer.

I informed Bill (our lead player and backup vocalist) that I was not going to join up with the 80's band project because it's just going to be too time-consuming, and because I really enjoy playing with these guys, who have basically the same goals and ideas I have as far as time commitment and seriousness. He was cool with it, and mentioned that he might be going the same way depending on how things shake out.

Today I have to send out an email to Terry and his friend Kellie letting them know that I'm not going to join up with them. Hopefully they'll be okay with it. It's just the wrong band at the wrong time for me. 15 years ago, I may have really gotten into a project like this, but 15 years ago I didn't have two young sons and as busy a dental practice.

So back to the drawing board.
