Horror Movies

If I knew how to do links I'd give you one. But I thought this was interesting. Bill O'Reilly wants to consider banning all horror movies, because they are basically the same as porn. I read this blurb on a website called feoamante.com. Feo (E.C. McMullen) is quite conservative, but he does love his horror, and has dedicated this site to all things horror: novels, films, and even music. His site links to another site that is a rebuttal from a knowledgable industry insider.

It all starts with the movie SAW. I haven't seen it, not sure I will. I like horror movies generally, but I like the stylish ones and not so much the gory ones. But apparently a lot of people like the movies in this series, considering SAW 3 was number 1 at the box office last week, I believe.

O'Reilly had a couple of guests who were discussing and basically putting down this movie in particular, and recent horror films in general. Never mind that none of them had seen SAW or any of the movies they felt qualified to comment on. But at the end O'Reilly said that banning horror movies was something that needed to be considered.

Leave it to someone who hasn't seen, or read, or listened to, the "art" (and admittedly I'm using the term loosely with respect to a lot of horror movies) that they want to ban to pass judgement on it. Imagine if the real judicial system worked that way.

I think I'll go watch SILENT HILL tonight.
