Brothers, not the King...

I used to go see this band a bunch in the 1980's into the 1990's. They were from Champaign, Illinois, and they were sort of trying to do the Stray Cats thing, but with more of a power pop sound. The result was a bunch of catchy, fun, danceable tunes that were great in a club setting.

Their first record was called MOVIN' UP; their second was called ADVENTURE TIME, and was notable for being produced by guitar virtuoso Adrian Belew. Then - nothing really, until the early 1990's when they released NOW DIG THIS on their own, and rereleased the first two records as a single CD with both collections on it. (A friend of mine, Carter Ruehrdanz, did the engineering for that release.)

We used to perform a couple of E.Bros. tunes live, both off the first record. The first was called HEY TINA, and the second was called YOU GOT ME. Great fun to play as well as listen to.

Found this video on YouTube. It's the video for a tune from their first effort. Song is called FIRE IN THE CITY. Apparently MTV required them to edit out some parts before they'd put it into rotation. Unfortunately, they suffered from a lack of promotion. I think they had what it took to make it big...
