Reserved parking place at the pediatrician

Precious Babykins is sick again, so I'm taking the day off to stay home with her. Whoever said that breastfed babies don't get sick as often was completely full of shit. This kid picks up every bug within a fifty mile radius. My pediatrician loves me, since she can plan those really expensive vacations now. And, of course, Precious Babykins only gets sick on the weekends. Yesterday she woke up with a fever, which persisted through Motrin and Tylenol, and she was drooling to flood the Sahara. She was also nowhere near as interested in eating or nursing as she usually is, and that alone told me she was sick! We finally got her fever down in the evening with a lukewarm bath (which she loved.. NOT!)

But I ended up staying up all night with her. I finally got her to nurse at 2am, and she dropped off to sleep with me holding her while I sat in the recliner. We'd already learned that trying to lay her down was pointless since she would wake up as soon as we let go of her, so I stayed in the recliner just holding her while she slept. I think I managed to doze a bit for an hour or two, but it certainly wasn't quality sleep.

So, we have an appointment with the ped this afternoon, so that I can rule out strep. I'm fairly positive she has a sore throat which would explain the drooling and the lack of desire to nurse. Right now she's napping in the sling with her head tucked up against my breast and her hand over her face. It's utterly adorable.

In other news I did get my hair cut this weekend and it turned out fantastic! I think this is possibly the best haircut I've ever had. My sister introduced me to this hairdresser after I had the baby, and I liked her so much I ditched my previous hairdresser to whom I'd been going for over 12 years. He was great, but he tended to overbook and it could take up to four hours to get a cut and color, and I just don't have the time for that anymore with the Kid. I'll post a pic when I get the chance (i.e. most likely when I go back to work.)
