Various quickie movie reviews

I don't get to go to the actual movie theater very often, so some of these remarks are about movie on DVD:

Meet The Fockers: Hysterical. Better than the first one. This one actually had meaning and a plot. Some hilarious commentary about breastfeeding and childrearing. Good character growth.

I, Robot: I was prepared to utterly despise this movie, seeing as how I grew up on Isaac Asimov and his robot stories. But it was actually a pretty decent movie. Oh sure, it had startling little similarity to the books, but it was still a good movie with decent action and engaging plot.

Shaun of the Dead: Very good, very funny semi-spoof of zombie movies. I hate horror movies (can't watch them!) and this one only had one gross scene that made me go EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWW! Liked it.

Jersey Girl: So very disappointing. I am a big Kevin Smith fan, and count Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back as one of my favorite movies. Unfortunately this movie has none of the sharp wit and black humor of any of his other movies, and also hinges the entire plot on what was to me a huge hole in logic. I'm sorry, but if he was really that big of a publicist, he could have afforded a friggin babysitter or nanny. I just couldn't get past that, and the rest of the movie didn't make up for it.
