On fat and flash

I ran a mile and a half today. Sorta proud of myself for running the whole way, but on the other hand I'm annoyed at myself for letting myself go to pot so badly. I used to run 6-7 miles easily. Of course that was back when I didn't have to squeeze my workouts in around Precious Babykins too. I also worked out at the gym on my lunch break, and have so far stayed good on my eating this year. I went back on the diabetes diet with the hopes of a)preventing myself from getting real diabetes, and b)losing some of this FUCKING weight. I would really like to wear my old jeans again. I would like to feel comfortable tucking my shirt in. I would like to not have a belly flap.

In writing news, I pulled out the story that I'd put away to simmer--the one that just wasn't right. A week or so of distance from it worked wonders, because after a read-through I figured out what was wrong and it only took a couple of hours to get it rewritten. I'm going to hold onto it a bit longer though and not rush it out the door just yet. I have stories out at most of the Pro markets, and this one isn't at all right for the pro markets that I do not yet have stories at. Therefore I will wait until I get a response about one of the others before doing anything with this.

I'd decided when I came back from my writing hiatus that I would only submit to pro-level markets, at least until I made a few sales to same. I really don't believe in starting out on lower level markets. It's not challenging enough, and it's not the kind of writing I want to do.

I'll probably do a longer entry at some point on my views of getting paid 1/100th a cent per word for fiction.

I'll also eventually do an entry about "flash fiction." I'm sure I'll piss some people off with that one. I mean, the occasional short-short is one thing, but there are some people out there who seem to do nothing but flash fiction. Come ON! Challenge yourself! Write a friggin story why dontcha!

Anyway.
