"Need fuel for jet"

I went into New Orleans today with my friend, Kat. Our main goal was to go to Whole Foods which is the best Organic/Natural foods grocery in this section of the world. Kat went all-organic not too long ago, and is absolutely loving it. I'm not really up to jumping whole-hog into all-organic, though I did switch to organic milk a few weeks ago because it's utterly revolting what is put into milk cows to make them produce more milk. However, I did buy about $40 worth of various good 'n healthy Stuff, including some organic baby food and some baby yogurt. Anna got fussy when I was finishing up, but since Kat had quite a bit of shopping left to do I went ahead and checked out and then went into a little cafe area they had and nursed her. I'll say this: when you nurse a baby at a natural foods grocery, you don't tend to get any dirty looks. I even had men giving encouraging smiles.

Of course that might have been because Precious Babykins has a tendency to shove my shirt all the way up my chest when she nurses.

Our next stop was Babies R Us, which is always a good way for me to part with huge quantities of money. On the way there, we were waiting at a red light and saw a bum holding a cardboard sign that said, "Need fuel for jet."

I gave him a dollar. I figured that was worth it just for the humor of it.

And, managed to score a ton of clothing for the Giant Child who keeps growing like a weed. She's not even nine months old yet and I'm buying 12 month and 18 month clothing for her. Insane.

Finally, in writing news, I received a 9 day rejection from F&SF. Darnit.
