Year In Review:
This is my best writing year ever because of the last two numbers (and the word count!). I honed in on my discipline and persisted to get back on the writing-horse whenever I faltered and inertia set in. I wrote almost every day between May and December, occasionally at week-long stretches. It was a wonderful year of breakthroughs and I had fun doing it too.

Doing the novel was the big thing and it was basically painless. I'm concerned about the short stories. I fell behind on mailing stories while writing the novel--that's something to work on for 2003. But the aborted stories bother me. Even before I started the novel I was worried about why I couldn't finish anything. For 2003 I'll have to get to the bottom of that and figure it out.

I finished the first draft of the novel on December 1st and I had hoped to have it revised by the new year. Nope. My old arch-enemy inertia made a comeback and threatened to make the novel one large piece of aborted work.

However, today I've offically started the rewrite. To get it done and in the mail is the first item on the agenda for 2003.

I'll post more on 2003 goals in a future entry coming soon.
