Slow Poke No Joke

Slow start on this first week of full time writing. I look at my graph paper for November of 2002 and I see I had sprinted right out the gate. The first week had thousand word days. Of course, I was finishing first draft of the novel.

So, what have I done? I've poked at the new short story, perhaps a page a day as I plod along. Looked at my goals. I've organized my office and filing cabinets, but that doesn't get the words down now, does it?

I'm glad I looked at my graph pages from last year. I made up a new sheet for November 2003. It's easy to forget the need for a chart to show myself I'm making progress or sitting on my ass. Inertia has set in during the last couple of months (for working out too!) so I'm not surprised about this slow start. It's definitely not an excuse to keep a glacial, low-productive pace.

Lot's of good news out in journal land. Jenn and Sarah sold to Flytrap. Mike will have a short story collection. And Vera is now a full time writer. Congrats! I hope I didn't forget anyone!
