Working the mind and body

I wrote a little over one thousand words today. That's good. I just may have another story to hand into workshop on Tuesday. We'll see. Productive day with some writing time and more filing and getting rid of excess paper around here.

I've been getting back in the groove with working out which means, I suspect and hope, the writing will flow more smoothly and on cue. Then again, just writing at the same time each day helps. And if I start writing as soon as I sit down, too. I'm going for a limber body, limber mind sort of thing. Don't use it you lose it.

I've been listening to Magnetic Fields, 69 Love Songs. I'll listen to it when I work out. One may not expect Magnetic Fields as music one can work out to, but it seems to work for me. Just to be clear, I can listen to 69 Love Songs at any time, any occasion, not just working out.

Recently I've read Mystic River by Dennis Lehane and I was just blown away by his writing. So impressed, I bought his new novel Shutter Island from a used book store the other day. But right now I'm reading Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem. I'm only a hundred pages into it and sometimes I think I'm reading Ray Vukcevich. There are certain scenes and dialog that remind me of Ray's work.

More later . . .
