Put us in a snow globe

Snow on the ground in Eugene today. It started falling right after we got up this morning. Stuck around the whole day, too. A month ago we had snow but it was gone by the end of the day. I've lived here for ten years and Eugene rarely has one day of snow, so this is a special year. It's kind of fun in a nostalgic sort of way for me, remembering those Minnesota winters.

It's going to freeze tonight and that means slippery roads. I hope X is cautious on the drive to work tomorrow.

I'm itching for the new year, scratching at the past year while looking forward to a better 2004. Of course I can't wait until Thursday when it will be the new year. Goals and progress and deadlines are year round. At the end of the year these things just hold more significance.

I have three short stories, each one different stages, but not one completely finished. I'll have to send one of them to WOTF. Eric Witchey has his mailing party this Sunday and I have two stories on my desk that need to go back out. I've begun a new chapter one for the novel I'm revising. This year was better than 2002 for keeping stories in the mail, but the number of rejections still seems low. Perhaps I'm off on my count. I definitely could use more stories (new ones!) in the mail to bring up that number next year.
