Resurfacing

So we are in the new apartment. The move happened on Saturday. It began at nine am in the morning when the professional movers took care of the piano. Watching professionals move the piano upstairs instead of us and our friends: priceless. Although X cringed a couple of times.

I rented a U-haul and we had helpers load the truck. The move (post-piano) lasted almost six hours and pretty much painless. Beer and pizza was had for everyone who helped. Everyone that stayed until the very end, that is. The Oltions invited us over to go hot tubbing, but after X and I put together the bed, I was way too comfy and exhausted to move. So we missed out. The Oltions still say we're invited anytime.

We love the new place. We've gained some square footage. Paying more, too, of course. But the rent is still pretty low. There's a great courtyard out front. We're on the second floor and the view (of Spencer's Butte) is good. I can walk to the store. I can walk to the workshop (which I did last Tuesday). I can walk to the hardware store. There's Santa Fe Burrito Company nearby, and a Thai restaurant, too!

The move was traumatic to Kitty. She spent all day Sunday in hiding. She is getting use to the place. She's been spending more time out in the open every day. But for some reason, after X goes to work in the morning, she goes under the couch for almost the entire day. Today wasn't as bad as yesterday, so it's just taking her some time to accept the place.

This Saturday we'll be hanging pictures, artwork, and shelving. We need lots of shelving for books. I'm hoping to put a big dent in the unpacked boxes this weekend.

Writing. Haven't done much. I have my desk set up for the most part. Even though I changed novel workshops (I've cancelled out of the March workshop and now I'm going for June) that doesn't mean I can avoid the work.

I'll have a story to write for the Denise Little Workshop soon. I'm looking forward to finding out the theme/idea. Should be any day now.
