In The Wings

Almost three months since my last entry. Not bad. But I digress.

*******************************************

I'm anticipating (salivating, really) writing immersion. This time last year I was on seasonal layoff from my job, but this year when asked if I wanted to work a little longer this season, I said yes. The money would help this year, certainly, although I think I'm doing it to be sure I'm not financially behind for next year's layoff season.

This is my last week. I'll be home writing soon. Next week will be a paid vacation week, which is cool since I'm a seasonal employee (although a long-time one) and I shouldn't get vacation pay.

My discipline towards my writing has sucked badly the last few months. I've worked some long hours this year, some twelve hour days, usually three days a week. It shouldn't be an excuse, but damn twelve hour days knocks me on my ass. But what about the other days? I need the immersion to re-establish the discipline.

I got my copy of Polyphony 5 last night with my story "After The Sky Fell." It's great to see it in there. Great to be in there with other writers from journal-land. Heather, Tim, Greg, Mike, and Robin.

Other news: there's a plumber in the house. Ximena became a plumber's apprentice over the summer. She's even started a livejournal about it (here: X)and she's been good at posting entries, unlike me the last few months. It's an adventure for our heroine, the warrior plumber.

More soon. Really. I'm serious.
