Xmas tree and Drillbit

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now it's xmas season. We went out and got a tree today which is amazing and untraditional. Really, we didn't have much room for a tree in the old place we lived (the ceiling was especially low) so we never bothered getting one. Since we're in a new apartment this year we went all out.

There's a tree in the living room right now, all decorated with ornaments and lights. And it isn't even December yet. Now we'll just have to get some presents under the tree.

The cats have been suspiscious about the tree and generally just annoyed by all our cleaning and moving around stuff this weekend. Since I was so poor at updating recently, I haven't mentioned that we got a new kitten at the end of August. Found him outside a Fred Meyer grocery store. A young girl was trying to sell kittens for twenty dollars (her mom told her charge that) but we got our kitten for ten. Most people might give away kittens. Anyway, since we've discussed getting Kitty a friend, we went for it.

A good or idea or not, the only one to tell which would be Kitty. She didn't accept him right away, but warmed up to him quickly. She only gave us the I'm-not-speaking-to-you pose for a little while. Now, three months later they play and chase each other, as well as share space just fine.

We named the kitten Drillbit. It took us awhile to come up with a good name, thinking up all kinds of references from books and movies. Then one day the kitten was meowing and X said he sounded like a stuck drill. I suggested Drillbit and the name stuck.
