Sitting on a wall across the street from the Minster at the moment, I've got the iBook out and am using it to type outside because I can.

It's so strange that the work day on the project is 9 to 5, and then everyone just disappears back to their homes or separate lodgings. Every other project I've been on the people stay together all day, every day, for every meal, for every activity. The contrast amazes me.

It's not just that it's an urban project run by local full-time Trust staff, but the trainee and placement staff housing at the local university is not yet available, so those folks don't have a common hangout yet.

No one mentioned a pub at the end of the day, so I went in search of an alternate Internet cafe and found one at half the cost of the other. Now, to get these files onto the 'net... perhaps I should find a cheap USB drive. Problem is all the stores here close at 5 so that will be difficult. Even the very large departments stores close. Weird, when you're used to 24-hour service, or at least 9-10 pm hours..

Actually, some stores have hours until 6 or 7 on Wednesdays, so it may then be possible to find something that will suffice. If not, I'll go back to the other cafe and connect just long enough to upload these entries.

Wandering around town, I took some photos of some medieval buildings and the Minster. According to the sign on the Minster, photography is allowed (I thought it wasn't) although only if a ticket is purchased, which is fine. I think it would be best, though, before bringing over the Panoscan to talk to someone about it and get advance permission so the guards don't deny me access with it. First, they might think it's commercial photography (which is also allowed, but an unspecified fee is required), and second, they might not like the caddy, even though I'm sure its soft wheels won't cause more wear and tear than one person's boots.

Listen to the Minster bells recorded directly to the iBook.
