Hehe...and all I wanted was the license to practice law!?!?
Hey, Rob: Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. :) I should begin with Saturday - you know, meeting the cousin and his family. Had a terrific time. For the know, his name is James; then there's Sherri, his wife, and their four kids - Kenny, Shelby, John, and ____, oh, how I suck. Anyhow, I was able to talk to James and Sheri, catch up on the last two decades, and just get to know who they are. James and Kenny BBQ'd some carne asada for the tacos. Shelby helped Sheri with homemade salsa, ground meat, and other toppings. The two girls made a cinnamon crumble coffee cake for dessert. The entire meal was phenomenal. I can't imagine feeding a family of six! Anyhow, after dinner / dessert, we had some coffee and then I hit the road. I really hope we stay in touch. After getting home pretty late, I still made it out of bed to get ready, get Rob, and make it to the Ren Faire by opening. Despite a few setbacks in the morning - for instance, I forgot the tickets at home - Rob and I still made it on time. Berek and Pita, however, got a late start and stopped for breakfast. Roba nd I had about half an hour to meander arounf the Faire until Berek and Pita arrived. Rob went fishing for wooden fish to win a prize. He won a bronze bell. Since none of you know Rob, I must tell you that he loves toys; anything that makes noise, has buttons, lights up, well, frankly, anything. He could not have been a happier camper after winning his bell. We lost track of time and met up with Berek and Pita a few minutes late. Oops. Had a wonderful time hanging out and walking around. I think I mentioned this was Rob's first Faire, so lots for him to look at - including heaving chests overflowing from corsets cinched too tight. He loved it. We saw the "Stupid and Bold Men" show. Too funny. Different act than last year. Walked around, checked out alot of stuff, and then I decided to get a henna tattoo. Wanted Pita to get one too. Talked her into it. then, I found out that I would have to remove my sunscreen - and not put it back on. HAHAHAHA - He** no! Sunscreen is a necessity. I have pale creamy white skin - it burns. It does not tan. It does not burn and peel into a tan. No, it burns. Ain't no way I am going without sunscreen. So, Pita got hers - a very cool looking kitty, crouching, and playing with a ball - on the nape of her neck. Soooo wanted a henna tattoo; bummer. From there, we walked some more. Mid afternoon, we decided we should eat something - went for the cheese and sausage (always very delicious), Berek and Pita got the same thing with the bread, and Rob went for the porkchop on a stick. While we were eating, Rob spotted the elusive lovers hiding in the bushes for their torrid affair. He wanted to go tip the guy a buck for the performance. LOL. He would have too, but for the maintenace gu ychasing them off. All they did, I'm sure, is find another place to continue. Throughout the day, the Faire had misters on. Unfortunately, that really wasn't enough to keep people cool. So, the Faire employees were walking around with watering tins and buckets to douse people who wanted to be wet to stay cool. (There was also a water catapult.) Both Pita and I opted for this quite a few times. Pita wore a white t-shirt, however. No one cared. I had on a sundress which was perfect for being doused, but dried rather quickly. So, I just kept being doused. Sometime around 2pm Berek's brother and his girlfriend finally arrived. Rob and I thought it a good time to get out of the heat and give them time to hang out. It felt awfully good once the air conditioning in the car hacked through all the heat. I even left the windows cracked, but hot air circulating doesn't do much to keep the interior cooled off. I can't imagine how hot the cars without limo tinting were! EW! Rob and I chose, since we had the entire afternoon, to hit a movie at The Grove. Went for Man On Fire. Very good movie. Ten dollars well spent. While we were waiting, Rob helped me pick out a Mother's Day gift for my mom. Victoria Secret - and he had fun. In fact, he picked out the chemise I chose to buy for her. We also went to Nordstrom's. He loves to screw with the guys in the custom suit / shirt departments. Too much fun! Since he works with custom clothing, he knows what to ask and exactly how to entice them. They fell right into it. Killed enough time there and then went to the movie. After the movie, we went to my place for awhile. Cuddled and watched some tv. For the first time, we got to watch Cold Case Files together - I mean, in the same room. Nice. Could get very used to that. Didn't quite make it through Sopranos. Oh well, as Rob said, "It's on again on Mondays." LOL. Took him back home - I couldn't keep him kidnapped - and then made it to bed. The sun and Rob together worked to wear me out. Turned on the tv, intending to have it on for a few minutes, and fell asleep with it on. I don't even remember what was on, but I was hoping to catch ATHF. There's always tonight...after catching Sopranos. I have an interview later today. I'll let y'all know what happens. Well, time to go get some letters written, bills paid, and other miscellaneous crud... Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
