2004-05-28 6:40 PM The sweetest compliment EVER Mood: appreciative Read/Post Comments (0) |
Hehe...and all I wanted was the license to practice law!?!?
Hey, Rob: Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. :) I just received the sweetest thing from a friend (who hates her name in my journal so I will only refer to her as S.) I have EVER received. It sounds silly, actually, but it made me feel good. I just opened an email; all it said was, "Thank you for being you. You are a friend and person I wish I could be and work hard to be like." Isn't that the absolute coolest thing to receive from a friend? I even teared up a bit. Wow. What a compliment! I thought about it for a moment and realize there are very few people I could say that too. There are traits, abilities, and other things about friends that I do try to remember, work to improve in myself, and pass along to others, but I realize there is only one person I truly hold in so high a regard that I strive to be like that person. I hope she feels the same way I felt when I read my email. "Thank you Mom. You are a friend and person I wish I could be and strive to be like." When I lived in DC, I missed my mom's birthday for the second time ever (the first time I lived in NC). My mom and I have grown to be the closest of friends as well as mother and daughter, so missing her birthday really upset me. My brother and I decided that since she had everything she wanted, including a new beau, all we needed to giver her was something that told her how much we love her and appreciate her. I only wish I had begun telling her sooner; life is too short to not know how much a person is loved and appreciated. (Any young girl reading this may not believe she will ever be as close to her mom as I am; she'd be wrong. My mom and I were sort of enemies as I grew up. It amazes me still that we have such a beautiful relationship now. I wouldn't have put a single dollar on it until I was a junior in college.) I hope neither she nor I forget. I will post, as a comment, what my brother and I wrote, printed, framed, and shipped to her as soon as I can find it on my computer. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
