2004-06-24 3:05 AM "lie" v. "unfortunate f*** up"; semantics? Mood: curious Read/Post Comments (5) |
Yep, another sleepless night. No, have not heard from him - apology or otherwise. In my journal entry on June 21, I put an issue out there for response. Oh, and did I receive responses!!! Initially I called his conduct a "lie". In the course of responses and im(s), I came to call it an "unfortunate f*** up". It has now been called to my attention that this replacement phrase may be less than accurate. My reasoning is as follows - If I were to call a blank piece of paper "white", but I knew the term offended people, and I called it "absence of color" - is there a difference? Don't they mean the same thing? So, in regard to my journal entry, some people were offended by my use of the word "lie", so I changed it to "unfortunate f*** up". Did I change the meaning or is it not the same thing? Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
