2004-10-14 12:11 PM Job offer (nope, didn't take it) Mood: perplexed Read/Post Comments (3) |
Hey, Rob: Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. :) I just got offered a job, yet I remain unemployed. Yep, you heard me right - unemployed. I have not been recanting my tales of horror, shock, or dismay through many recent interviews; well, because there has not been anything significant to comment upon. This one, oh yes, this one is worthy of comment... Okay, so the position is a law clerk one. No biggie. The advertisement indicates the applicant must have a very strong writing background and some experience on Law Review or Law Journal. I have those, cool. Funny thing is, well, the position does not actually need a strong writing background; rather, it needs someone who does not mind writing alot. Not actually writing either; no, it is more like re-writing, grammar checking, and making sure this attorney does not get criticized, demeaned, ridiculed, or otherwise berated by the judge (any more than has already occurred) for the apparent inability to write coherently. Please, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez, may I give out a Scarlett 'S'? If a person, no less - a lawyer, is unable to write intelligently, do you think that very same person has good communication skills, on the whole? You guessed that one right if you said, "No." Half of the interview was this person trying to rephrase (quite simple and standard) questions. Maybe the rejection reason(s) I have been receiving from other positions is not such total and utter bullsh** after all; maybe I am over-qualified. Hrmmm... So, off I go to two more - hopefully uneventful and hopefully leading to a job. Even if the other interviews blow chunks today, I am meeting pops for dinner at Islands in Brea (which also means I can pick up more coffee from Gloria Jean's). Yummy. Yaki Yaki tacos made with Mahi Mahi. You know, even if they were not as good as they are, I would order them for the name. LOL. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
