Hehe...and all I wanted was the license to practice law!?!? Hey, Rob: Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. : ) I have no problem volunteering my time to Pepperdine to judge the competions. No, really, no problem at all. That, is, of course, as long as it does not require me to drive almost sixty miles out of the way. Um, no. I draw the line there. In order to get to the Dalsimer Competition tomorrow, I would have to drive from West LA, into Thousand Oaks to whatever canyon road happens to be open and back down into Malibu. Now, supposing I did this; go with me on this mental journey here... Imagine I am sitting at Pepperdine. Judging. Making them squeam in anguish. It rains. Mudslide. Okay, so then I would be stuck with two options - remain in Malibu, a definite, "No can do," or drive all the way back up PCH to another backroad canyon I know (assuming it is open) or all the way up PCH (assuming it does not fall to another almighty rock) into Ventura and then trek on back to West LA. If you followed me through this line of thinking, you are probably having the same thought I am, "Not on your life, buddy." Jen had it right all along. Next time I will pay heed. As you may have figured, I called and opted out of judging tomorrow. I am not getting stuck in the God forsaken place. No way. There is nothing to do in Malibu should I have to count away precious time. PierView is gone. Theater sucks. Coffee lasts for so long. Becca will not be home. So, no. Rather, tomorrow I am going to get miscelaneous errands done. Most have to do with my place which I would like to get done sometime soon - light fixtures need to be picked up, wrought iron rod needs to be picked up, window treatments need to be exchanged, and new window screens need to be purchased. I have plenty to fill my time. Productive ways to fill my time. No risk of getting stuck anywhere. Sunday is going to be with the parentals. Every year my mom makes me an incredible lasagna for my birthday. Two other people make amazing lasagnas (Bryce and Aunt Vicki) that can even compare. Yummy. My tummy is looking forward to it. I am going to swing by La Brea Bakery and pick up a fresh sourdough baguette to go with it... *tummy grumbles* Other than that, I have two sessions scheduled this coming week; it will be nice to be back on track. I can only take feeling loopy and being drowsy 24/7 for so long. Rob is down to 25 more weeks to go. YAY!!! He was commended for his impeccable performance during a simulation today; way to go Rob! He has had a cold, so this week was a tough one. Nope, this one was not my fault - got it all on his own. He handled it wonderfully. He is feeling better tonight, but knows well enough to take it easy and lay back this weekend to get over it. Next week is a big disqualifying exam, so he has plenty to read and study to keep himself indoors. He knows the stuff, but he faces a problem which is also common in law school - mixing the terms up in his head. I am working on getting him to use neumonics (if I spelled it right). Crim Pro seemed to be a source of difficulty for many classmates in law school - keep all the stop requirements, the search requirements, and the levels of cause necessary straight. Rob, just remember, reasonable suspicion and probable cause - one comes before the other (the stop comes before the search)... the level of cause needed progresses upward as the level of the interaction progresses further. Good luck!!! *sending good thoughts your way* Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
