2005-03-15 9:41 AM death and taxes - 'tis the season Mood: fine and dandy Read/Post Comments (0) |
Hehe...and all I wanted was the license to practice law!?!? Hey, Rob: Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. : ) Last week ended rather unremarkably. I had some stuff to finish drafting for my parental units - I have been designing some landscapes for their backyard and drafting a notice letter for some property my mom owns and rents out. Saturday, I spent with the parentals doing some *free* laundry. My pops and I got some planting done in the back garden and my mom and I planted some flowers in the front planters; I love to garden... If only I could keep stuff I plant alive. *sigh* My mom and I went for pedis and manicures at her salon. I got my toes painted a gorgeous pale yellow with snakes painted on my two large toenails. My snakes look amazing! When we got back to the house, my mom cooked up enough corned beef - 'tis the season - for me to bring one home and for them to keep one to eat during the week. Incredibly yummy. I love to be fed there - my pops made t-bones on the grill for dinner. So. Spoiled. I was supposed to see Rob Saturday night, but by the time everything got done and we had dinner, it was too late; we were both too tired to get together. I did spend all of Sunday with him though. There is ALOT going on on that front (see private posting) and the time together has been good for both of us. I picked him up super early for breakfast at one of my favorite places - The Way Station - in SCV. We needed to go early to beat the church rush AND so he would not lose study time. Afterward, we headed to my place for awhile, then back to his place to finish studying. I came home after watching Cold Case Files with him. Yesterday, I met up with David so we could organize how he wants his customer PR to go - what offers, incentives, or other customer driven campaign(s) he wants to put on the table to get some, now gone, customers back in. I can only do so much to mend the bombed bridges without some reason for them to want to work with him again. He had no clue. I do not know how serious he truly is about this. He needs to really think about what he wants, what he is willing to do to get it, and then put it into action. I half expect he wants me to do all of it - sorry, not what I do. I can work with the customers he has lost and address their concerns, but I am not a PR / advertising person. It is not that I am not interested in trying, but I do not have the system in place to know where to go and what to do... Oh well. Today, I am working on stuff at home - finish the design drafts, clear through the stack on my desk, wait for the carnita meat to be cooked, pay some mid-month bills, and answer emails. Tomorrow, I will be wrapping up a mediation agreement so I can send it out to the parties and drafting a presentation I need later this week. They have the rough draft, but I like to follow it up with a typed agreement on my letterhead. Tomorrow night, I am heading to the Clippers game at Staples Center with Candice, Shaune, and Gil. We have VIP tix (thank you Rob) eleven rows back from the court. I am not a big B-Ball fan, but I love to go to any live sports games and love it even more when they are such exceptional seats. We are all planning on doing the beer, hotdog, and other crap food thing for dinner - I know the four of us are going to have fun together...we always do. Thursday, I will be working with David. After the workday, my mom and I are going to meet up for dinner. No, not for St. Patrick's day, but for some Italian food and chianti at the Macaroni Grill. On Friday, I will be in the SCV at one of the high schools; I will be speaking to classes about my business - what I offer, how to get in touch with me, how to approach their parents if they decide they want to do a session (or vice versa), and other info. The teens seem to respond well to stories of previous mediations I have done, so I need to choose which ones I will present. Friday night, I am going to take the chance with The Ring Two. *sigh* THe first one was so bad and is such a long running joke with the friends I saw it with, that we made a pact - if ever a part two was made, we would be there opening night. Now I wonder why I would ever have considered making such a mentally warped pact. If nothing else, it should be good for some laughs. In seven days, you die... Saturday, taxes. 'Nough said. Saturday night appears to be an evening at Dungeon. Jen, Rob, Al, myself, and perhaps Berek, Pita, and Kat, getting together to say "farewell" to Al as he departs for the "Great State of Texas." Whew, Austin right before summer... Feels like a wet towel. *heaves out a lung* Sunday I will be with Rob again. He is at Davis today doing something or another with guns. Tomorrow he has another disqualifying exam - on property crimes. He has an exceptional grasp on the info, but his nerves are tending to get the better of him. He has scored well above the cut off on every exam so far, but he is afraid to develop any level of confidence since he is watching many classmates become overconfident and then fall on their a**es. I suppose his approach is better than the alternative. Sunday I will help him again study for the next exam. I am assuming since they just wrapped up property crimes, that it will be crimes against persons. Helping him cannot do anything but help me; but, of course, I doubt I will be lucky enough to get Crimes on the Bar again. Maybe; but I doubt it. Well, time for me to run off and get things done...
