I know I have cool neighbors. One of my neighbors met me the night I cracked open my head, unpacking from the move, and took me to the hospital. Two others met me in the parking garage as we were leaving for the hospital. I have been to parties with my neighbors, hung out with them, watched some sports with them, and generally enjoy living next to them. I know they are cool. Now, however, I think they are even *cooler* - who knew I lived next to people with some of the most exciting jobs? Seriously, I found out last night my next door neighbor is a producer for reality television shows - big ones. Survivor. Apprentice. Big ones. Cool, huh? My other neighbor produces for video games. I never wanted to be in anything even related to the entertainment industry, but the jobs do sound amazing! Although, I admit, I do not miss my old position which had me doing quite a bit of travel. I prefer to enjoy my place, not live out of a suitcase in hotels in various places - especially places where there is not enough free time to go out and about.

Well, the contractor cancelled for today, but I still met with a member of the HOA and the owner of record. Man, the HOA is trying to screw Byron over something awful. The member who was here was extremely angry that Byron has given me power over the property and the right to be present when discussions relating to the property are occurring. The fact that I have the legal knowledge and the practical knowledge in dealing with an HOA totally pisses the HOA here off. There is so much that is illegal, in violation of the CC&R(s), and that they are trying to get Byron to pay for that is HOA responsibility, and they do not like that I keep "tattling" on them to him. I am not going to let them screw him over. He is really a nice guy, even though I will not buy his place now. Not his fault, really; it is the property itself, nothing he has or has not done. He is doing his best to get the problems fixed. Anyhow, so the member tried to tell Byron that the HOA is hiring a contractor to fix some decking problems in the courtyard. To do so, the HOA will have to block the drain from his patio. The member told Byron that Byron "must" install a drain in his patio; that it is his responsibility. NOT TRUE! Totally the HOA responsibility - since they are the ones who will be blocking his drain. It is alot of money to deal with concrete, concrete destruction, concrete laying, and pipe/drain installation.

Also, Byron has been trying to assign his proxy to me for the HOA meetings, but the same member who was here today will not let me attend the HOA meetings - because I am not owner fo record. B/s. We are fighting that one. Byron cannot make it to the meetings. I can. I live here. He wants to know what is going on and have a say in it, even if by assigning his vote to me and not having the info firsthand. I swear, I cannot believe the sh** that goes on in this place. Then, Byron tells me the whopper of the day - the HOA members voted to pay themselves a salary for serving on the Board. Um, no. It is illegal to pay people for voluntary positions. Even the CC&R(s) state that the positions are to be filled voluntarily by homeowners who are voted into whichever seats they can win. Nothing about being paid. Not even an amendment to cover their a**es. Byron is going to go after them for that one - it is $11,000 a year for one person and another $8,000 for another. That is ON TOP of the HOA dues. Unbelievable. Byron is a smart cookie, but does not speak english very quickly nor well. He takes his time, thinks it through, and then can respond quite well. He reads and writes it very well. I think the HOA members think they can "pull the wool over his eyes" because of the difference in abilities to understand, comprehend, and respond verbally. The meetings where votes do occur, they get mad at him for asking too many questions (which he needs to do to understand what is happening) and then get upset when things like today happen (when he has someone there to help him understand and respond.) F***ers.

I need to grab my lunch and get some stuff done now that I have vented. Then, tonight, my bedtime reading is going to be the copy of the CC&R(s) I just received, in full. The HOA wants to screw him around, they better watch their own a**es now...! If it is illegal, in violation, or anything else against the CC&R(s), I will find it. Mark my words.
