2005-04-01 2:40 PM The Pope - glad to have missed the possibility of cruel irony Mood: rumor hater Read/Post Comments (2) |

Another entry, but a necessary one - As sad as the entire thing is about the Pope, I am glad he has made it to April 2nd - Roman time. I truly felt it would be cruel to have him pass on April 1st, being April Fool's Day and all. Rumors have been on and off all night about whether he was conscious, alive, brain dead, etc. He will pass "silently into that good night" and onto the next part of his spiritual journey. It is nice that someone has so much faith that he accepts the pain he is in and considers it part of his debt to his God and Saviour for admittance to Heaven. Wow. I am not Catholic. Heck, I study every religion and belief I can get my hands upon, question every element and aspect of every one of those religions and beliefs, and still consider myself merely beginning my own spiritual journey. I admire him. I still feel profoundly sad at his imminent passing, aside from my own religious questions, doubts, and patched together beliefs. The Pope accomplished so much in his life; thus, religion does not have to be a part of the sadness I feel. I am sad for the loss of a man who was able to get nations to talk, to work together; for the loss of a man who overcame many adversities; and for the loss of a man who was able to reach out and over the religious boundaries to others who needed someone. Yes, he had faults - he's human, after all. All in all, he compensated for whatever faults in his life and/or in conducting Church business, and deserves the mourning he will receive. My thoughts and sympathies go to those who are losing a spiritual leader. My thoughts and sympathies go to those, who like me, are losing a man who could live a life to be admired and respected - there are so few nowadays. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
