So, I am sure you have heard that the NHL- that's Hockey- for those of you who are wondering- will have an new, an unique way, of picking their All-Star teams. They will have two captains who will pick from any of the all-stars, regardless of their leagues, divisions, positions, etc. Does this remind any of you of chosing up DodgeBall teams in grade school? What do you do with the ones that are chosen last? What if they are your team mates? What if you need to choose a rival/enemy? I love this crap. I want the NBA to do the same thing. Let the fans/players/coaches choose 30 players- regardless of their leagues- or positions...just 30 of the best players this season...and then have two captains choose from them. Seems that everyone wants Kobe and LeBron as the "captains"; so for this one season- let them be the captains. Then, starting next year...you let the two leading scorers, at the all-star break be captains...regardless of which league they are in. So, if you end up with Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant as captains, as you would today- then so be it. Give the leading scorer (Durant) the first pick. Does he take Dwight Howard (?) so he has a center? Does he take LeBron James just to play with him on his team? Does he take Derrick Rose to have a point guard? What happens when Kobe passes again and again on Gasol? WAIT!!! I have an even better idea. Let's have the two leading scorers chose a roster from ANYONE in the NBA. That means that Durant goes first and can pick ANY player other than Kobe that he wants. They chose anyone they want from the NBA until the have a 12 man roster. What if Durant leaves Westbrook off of his roster? Will he ever see the ball again? What if Kobe picks Shaq- only to leave him on the bench for the entire game? Oh yeah- the captains get to coach their teams as well. HAHAHAHAHAHA. I love this. Will Kobe EVER take himself out of the game? I would love to see Kobe, James, Carmelo Anthony, Amae Stoudamire, and Dirk on the same team- no one would pass the ball...well, maybe James would. I want to see if ANY center, other than Howard, makes an all-star team. I want to see Kobe get frustrated when the other egos are ALMOST as big as his. Why limit this to the NBA- let's see it in MLB also. Let the two MVPs from the previous season- Josh Hamilton and Joey Votto chose from ANY player in either league...of course, you need to eliminate that stupid rule about the winning league getting home field advantage...or WAIT...do you? No you don't. The players can choose any player they want- but they need to hope that the player REALLY wants to win...humm. If Hamilton is given the first pick- does he choose Alber Pujols from the National League to help the American League win? What fun...what fun...I love this crap...don't you?
