Readings! Woohoo!

Well, it's (semi-) official: I've been programmed for my first-ever fiction reading! It'll be on Friday night, May 27th, at WisCon, in the reading "Big Jumps and Long Tomorrows", with Susan Palwick, David Levine, and Richard Chwedyk. I am super-excited! And so thrilled I'm reading with such great people, too. Sadly, since the reading is tentatively scheduled from 10:15 to 11:30 p.m.--i.e., 3:15 a.m. to 4:30 a.m., my time!!! and I won't be anywhere near done with jet lag yet!!!--I will be in serious physical shock. Let's hope I can stay awake for it! But I'm really excited anyway. And hey, it's almost on my birthday (May 28th).

So, anyone who's coming to WisCon--please come! Give me support! (Help keep me awake!) I am HUGELY nervous, even though I'm really looking forward to it.

And hey, I'll bring bribes! Souvenirs from England! Like...er...um...souvenirs from England! Yeah! And I'll figure out what those will be later. Chocolate? English specialty chocolate? What do you guys think of as particularly English? Maybe I could bring orange marmalade from Harrods and get some crackers for everybody to spread it on? Oh, who knows. I'll think of something! Any suggestions? :)

Sadly, Patrick has come down with my horrible cold/flu. I'm still not 100% myself, and even Nika is a bit sniffly, so we are a couch-ridden family today. It's kind of nice, though, just to hang out in a completely unpressured, unscheduled way. And I chunked out another 2-1/2 pages on my new, just-for-fun, silly-chick-lit-fantasy novel this morning. (VERY tentative working title: Marrying a Demon And Other Mistakes.)

Yay for weekends.
