Woohoo! Escape Pod has bought Some Girlfriends Can as an audio reprint. My first pod-cast! They aren’t sure exactly when it’ll broadcast, yet, or who exactly will be reading it, but said that of course they will be using one of their female narrators for it. It’ll be the first time I’ll have heard one of my own stories read out loud by someone else, and I’m super-excited about it.

On the good news/bad news front, I did go into work yesterday, got ferociously ill, and had a horrible fever by last night, so I’m off work again today...but I had a doctor’s appointment this morning and found out that it’s not just a virus, but actually some sort of severe chest infection. (Exactly what sort I have no idea, because this particular doctor, while very trustworthy, has absolutely no bedside manner.) So... he’s given me a note saying I shouldn’t go back to work for a full week (bleaghh) but at least I’ve got antibiotics and should actually get better, now, in time for WorldCon. So that’s sort of good news, anyway, and Patrick’s got an appointment set up for tomorrow just in case he’s got the same infection. And my employers are being very nice and sympathetic, so I feel much less bad now in general.

But--yay for reprint sales! And I predict a week of lots and lots of reading, since I’m spending most of my time on the couch. This morning I read three short stories, and I’m probably going to settle in this afternoon with as many more as I can hunt up on- or off-line.
