Well, I am feeling an awful lot better emotionally, if not physically, today, due partly to a phone call from my awesome brother Ben, who read yesterday's blog entry and immediately phoned to save my sanity, partly to Patrick's return (yay!), and partly to watching what may be my new favorite of the old black-and-white swashbuckling films: The Mark of Zorro, with Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, and Basil Rathbone. Basil Rathbone played my new favorite out of his many villains, El Capitan (playing with his sword non-stop, as a nervous habit), the hero was hilarious in his Scarlet Pimpernel-y plot to pass himself off as a harmless fop, there was great surreptitious flirtation in a chapel (with Zorro disguised as a monk), and the sword play was just excellent. All in all, a perfect pick-me-up!

I'm reading Alexander McCall Smith's The Sunday Philosophy Club, which Justina passed on to me, and enjoying it very much. A good new series for anybody who liked the Amanda Cross Kate Fansler mystery series, with a smart, over-educated, self-analytical female amateur detective and more time spent on exploring philosophical/moral issues than on action. (Zorro and The Philosophy Club have made a good balance for me in the past 24 hours.)

And I've sworn to myself to finally get back to Chapter Eight today, after my week-and-a-half of sickly slacking on it. But first, a silly quiz that made me very happy:
