I finally, finally finished the first big round of revisions for The Music of the Stars today. Whew! I'm going to print it out and send it to Shawna tomorrow.

Sadly, after our lovely vacation, we have no money left over for celebrations. But we did take a great walk in the valley (my longest walk there since February!), and talked about novels and other writing stuff, and generally had a really good time.

So now it's time to start revising Congress of Shadows! Eep.

I'm also starting to think about new novels...but no further than that so far. What I'd really like to do is set the next adult historical novel in Sweden, but I won't have enough background info until we go there...which might be this autumn, if we can scramble together the money for it somehow. Er...

So in other words, unless some lightning strike of alternate inspiration strikes, it'll probably be short stories around here for a while.

In the meantime, we've been making gorgeous fruit smoothies every day, and I've been re-reading one of my longtime favorite historical fantasies, Judith Tarr's Lord of the Two Lands. It's been a comfort novel for me for so long (15 years now, maybe?) that reading even just a couple of lines is enough to fill me with a warm, happy feeling. Mm, yummy!
