Hooray! Tim Pratt just accepted my short story "It's All About the Shoes" for Flytrap No. 8! This is the story Justina, one of my first readers, described as "Jenny Crusie meets World of Warcraft"; in my query letter to Tim before submitting it, I used the phrase "feminist fantasy chick-lit" (surely that's a recognized sub-genre, right???). I wrote this story to a non-stop soundtrack of Kirsty MacColl (especially that one perfect song, In These Shoes?!) and I love it and am so happy it's found such a perfect home.

And yes, of course I am wearing my tiara right now! :) Maya was confused by the Happy Dance, but she still joined in very enthusiastically.

In other news, Patrick and I had a really good plot conversation about Kat by Moonlight, which sparked a whole bunch of new ideas - including a couple that made me feel a little shivery with excitement. (Could I really do that? Is it allowed?) The first effect of the conversation was that I've had to toss out the last three pages I'd written (sigh) - but I'm much, much happier with the new scene I've started in their place.

Right now I'm re-listening to In These Shoes? and feeling awfully good. :)
