I'd been having an irritable, restless, stir-crazy morning, not getting much writing done, wishing I could figure out a way to get out of the house, and surfing the web far, far too much...and then the mail arrived, and my mood improved exponentially! It brought my contributor's copies of Flytrap, and they're beautiful! I love the way Tim and Heather do layout for this magazine. So far I've read the first half of the zine, and it's so much fun. Haddayr's story "Dust" is beautiful and sad and funny, all at once - just a perfect piece - and Greg's story "Hermod's Ride" made me really impatient to read the rest of his Norse novel! And my story, "It's All About the Shoes", didn't have a single typo, which is my major first-read-through concern when I'm reading a piece of mine that's just been published. ;)

(Oh, and for anyone who does read "It's All About the Shoes" - I think it's extremely important for establishing the right ambience that you crank up Kirsty MacColl's song "In These Shoes" while you read it! I listened to that song non-stop as I was writing the story.)
