Thought Cartoon: "Moonwalk"

To remind you, full-blown cartoons appear in my head, on occasion, and I refer to those as "thought cartoons", as opposed to turning that thought into an actual picture, which I have also done.

This thought cartoon is of an astronaut sitting on his Doctor's exam table, in full space suit. The astronaut is asking the doctor, "Do you think I'll ever Moonwalk again?"

Now to me, this is funny, because of the hidden meaning, that the astronaut couldn't actually do the "Moonwalk", (made famous by Michael Jackson), before, at all, let alone in a spacesuit! (But I love the image!)

It is also sad, or perhaps ominous, to think that "We" landed on the Moon 40 years ago, and have not made it back! In the "future" I imagined when I viewed the live shots from the moon, was that there would be a Visitor's Center where any tourist could go and see the original landing site and booted footprints. By now, at least!

I would like to ask you, if you would, to comment to this blog, whether you agree with me that the reason we haven't been back to the moon in 40 years is that either 1) we were scared off, or 2) we have been back, using secret technologies that exist which the US taxpayer paid for, but which are so "black project" that no word of them has emerged.

Or do you think we haven't been back because we "lost the expertise", or "no longer have the political will"... ? To me, those excuses appear very thin after 40 years! I know that the return on the dollar for space research is enormous, and yet no government or corporation plants a base on the moon yet? In 40 years? Really?

I'm just saying...
