Mood:
Ow....

So what I counted on being a quick look at a tooth to see if it will need work yesterday, turned into a 4+ hour ordeal at the dentist yesterday. It ate up my whole day, as I came home afterwards and had to take a nap because I hate that whole novicaine-wearing-off feeling, it always gives me headaches.

I wound up having another $900+ mouth full of work to look forward to, as they had to do an over all checkup because it's been over a year since my last visit (which totaled over 3,000 for that set of lovely work). I didn't even realize that it had been that long. I had to have three teeth worked on yesterday, and had to have all of the fillings on those teeth replaced, because I had cavities underneath the old fillings. I didn't even know that such was possible, but apparently the dentist who did them several years ago did a bad job, and they were either cracked or pulling away from the teeth in places. So it was a little more expensive, but I had them filled with the while fillings, so now they look better, have no mercury, and are a bit stronger. I have to get a crown and fillings replaced on another tooth on my next visit. Damn I'm too young for my teeth to be this problematic.

While he was drilling on my wisdom tooth, my only one, he said that the color looked weird and asked if I'd like him to go ahead and pull it. Of course I wouldn't LIKE him to pull it if it can be avoided. Other than a small cavity, it's never been problematic. He took some more exrays, determined that it was still a living tooth, and filled it along with the others. Gees, does anyone really prefer to have a toorh pulled if it otherwise can be avoided. His reasoning for still pulling it was because there was no opposing tooth on the bottom. Not good enough of a reason for me though.

More unexpectedness. It's been months of layoff-dodging, wonderring what my group will be doing, fighting with VPs and the like over stupid things that people in the company cause and do. Suddenly, I find out the other day that I get an office. It belonged to a VP who works out of another area now (and a funny thing, it's the same guy I've been having head-butting issues with). It's got a window, and is fairly big. Now I will have some privacy, and a bit more space. Yay! Go Me!

So the new org chart came out. I'm listed as Tier 1 Operations Manager. Hope that it is official. Yay! Go Me again!

In other news, and in keeping with today's theme, I was caught by surprise by a movie I saw the other night, "Rules of Attraction."

What I expected to be typical teenage romance/drama turned out to be fairly cerebral, interesting, and definately was worth the time and money spent. The plot was gripping, the realities portrayed were kinda harsh. There are a few fairly graphic (not overly so) scenes of sexual and violent depictions, so fair warning, but the overal movie is well made and put together in an interesting fasion.

Van Der Beek (Of Dawson's Creek fame) had a role quite different than anything I have ever seen him do. I was impressed with the acting range. It's not often I compliment the Hollywood pretty boy teen idols, but I think it's cool when actors play agains their "type" in the industry. It was daring.

I guess that is all for now. Wrapping up another Friday, veggies and hummus on my desk, and water, as I'm trying to watch what I eat. Didn't eat much yesterday, but dental work will do that to ya.
